Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

Out the back of Greytown- a clocktower bigger than seen in most towns! (as always, click on the photo for a better view)

Is this a statement about somebody's late night returns from the Green Man?

A different view of the Rimutaka Hill Road

I knew I had a few photos saved for a rainy day!

This is the view of the Rimutaka hill road on the Featherston side. If you think that road is scary, you should have seen what I drove up to get this photo!

More coming soon

I have just brought a new camera with a zoom, so I will be able to get a bit more material for this site soon.

The phone camera just doesn't do the job on scenery shots and I have been missing some great photos- like this morning with the fog.

Back soon.

Back country power generation

Two of these big windmills puts out more power now, but this is an interesting example of an early hydro power station. It's a couple of km past Gladstone.

Lake Daniels

It's nicer in the summer. Over by where the hills meet the water live some HUGE eels!

There have been no recorded incidents of swimmers being eaten.

35 years ago, a massive landslide buried the old hut and a couple of trampers inside at the time.

"At Easter 1974, Brian and Sharon Manson and Phillip Nicholls were killed by a landslide which destroyed the small fishing hut near Lake Daniels. The CTC, in conjunction with the local fishing club, built a larger memorial hut on the shore of the lake. This was opened at Easter 1976 and remains a popular destination for easy tramping."
