It's nicer in the summer. Over by where the hills meet the water live some HUGE eels!
There have been no recorded incidents of swimmers being eaten.
35 years ago, a massive landslide buried the old hut and a couple of trampers inside at the time.
"At Easter 1974, Brian and Sharon Manson and Phillip Nicholls were killed by a landslide which
destroyed the small fishing hut near Lake Daniels. The CTC, in conjunction with the local fishing club, built a larger memorial hut on the shore of the lake. This was opened at Easter 1976 and remains a popular destination for easy tramping."
